Im pro life change my mind hat8/14/2023 So, when does this human come into existence? Fertilization. Anywhere you draw a line, it’s discrimination. How about 1 month before? 2 months before? There’s no reason to draw a line somewhere. The next day, I went to Caribou by myself and thought about it. Can you kill a newborn?” I said, “Well no, that’s totally wrong.” He goes, “Okay, one day before they’re born, can you kill them then?” I said, “Oh, um, that’s a good point. He goes, “Chris, abortion kills a baby.” I was like, “Okay, what does that even mean?” He goes, “It’s very simple. I didn’t know anyone against abortion or if I did, they certainly never shared it with me. I said, “So wait, you’re against abortion? Why would you be against abortion?” I was genuinely confused. Well, I hear about this little drama later when I am at Caribou Coffee with my protestant friend. So, the agnostic friend very dramatically got up & said, “I will not have my intelligence insulted” and walked out. He didn’t apologize for thinking it, but he did apologize for saying it. My protestant friend later apologized for saying it. Now, I don’t suggest that as a way of sharing your pro-life convictions. My protestant friend said to my agnostic friend, “If a woman is 9 months pregnant, if you don’t think that’s a baby in there, you’re either lying or you’re an idiot.” The conversation got passionate as sometimes happens. Then, they start talking about life and abortion came up. They’re drinking coffee, playing speed chess, and having a great time. One of those groups were guys who played speed chess. I didn’t know the difference between Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Judaism, or Islam, and I had never read the Bible. When I say I was an atheist, I mean I didn’t grow up going to church. When I was 19, I was a pro-choice atheist. But I wasn’t always pro-life and I want to share my story. I don't want to pay for that.My name is Chris Iverson and I have been doing pro-life work since 2004. Nevermind that I have no patience on the issue when the same people who insist that the concept of life is so sacred that a fertilized egg should be treated as a full person, but the moment that egg finally has turned into a birthed child, the speaker says "**** 'em. But if it can't, there's no point, because it's inevitably dead even with the most state of the art care at that point, the mother's rights should probably take precedence. Which gets to the real question: at what point in human development should the constitution grant the full rights of a person-citizen to an entity? The best balancing you're going to find is the one we already have: once a fetus is reasonably viable outside the womb with medical care, it should be treated as a full person under the constitution. Yet nobody asks if any of those things have the rights of a person or citizen. An intestinal parasite can be called life. The question is not "can this thing be called life?" My finger can be called life. It intentionally asks the wrong question. I have never seen a thread framed that way result in anything but its creator announcing that each participating poster has presented an insufficient argument, then acting like this mean the OP starting position must be correct.Īt any rate, you're never going to make headway with someone who uses the "life begins at conception" line.
